Copynotes: "The bookseller’s (undated) description is pasted in and reads: “Complete in 3 volumes, with the exact collation of the two original editions, published in 1590 and 1596, including a new Life of the Author and a Glossary. This rare set, complete in 3 volumes, beautifully illustrated in 32 scarce Kent copper plates, priced @ [price obliterated].” The set is in splendid condition. I am not great with bindings but they might be original or at least of the period. They are speckled calf with gold tooled spines with red and green spine labels. The endpapers are marbled with a combed design (mostly dark red with blue and yellow). The only bookplates are from our library (Mills College, Albert M. Bender Collection)." --Janice Braun, Special Collections Curator, F.W. Olin Library, Mills College, June 18, 2009.
